Filmmakers and creative professionals had ten weeks to submit their short films and projects to us, and what can we say...wow. With 784 submissions for FiSH 2024, we set a new record - the most submissions since the festival was founded.

Hi there! I'm Lina and at the moment I have the honour of doing my internship at FiSH until the end of January AND writing this little blog entry. I actually only heard about FiSH for the first time this year. But as a native of Nordhausen (I come from Thuringia), I have a small excuse for this. However, when the 'FiSH seminar' was offered at my university this summer semester, I became curious.
On 25 September 2023, Ramon Gerwien from NDR visited the Institute for New Media. In conversation with Arne Papenhagen, the Institute's Managing Director, and Borja Garcia, our volunteer from Spain, he talked about various aspects of volunteering in Europe. The central topic of the interview was Borja's motives for coming to Rostock.
They have already been in Rostock since the beginning of September! In the last few days/weeks, there were two things on their bucket list: Get to know everything and watch a lot of films! No sooner said than done. 60 films later and the two still haven't had enough! We are definitely happy that the two from Spain and Italy have found their way to us.
FiSH goes on tour! Also this year FiSH moves through the waters and localities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In the process, one or the other location has caught a few great short films. FiSH is on the beach, on the dance floor and again in the wild under the sky! This year we may even send a few films to Austria.
