Photo Exhibition “Under the Skin: the Role of Women in Film and TV”

Tuesday, April 22nd – Sunday, April 27th | Frieda23

VERNISSAGE | Tuesday, April 22nd | 7.00pm | Frieda23 Studio

Photographer Jens Fricke has portrayed German actresses and interviewed them about their experiences in the film and television industry. The result is a fascinating panorama of authentic voices and photographic portraits, which will be exhibited for the first time from April 22, 2025, onwards as part of the FiSH Film Festival in Rostock.

The portrayal of women in society is strongly influenced by film and television productions. While the MeToo movement has sparked discussions in this traditionally male-dominated industry and led to a more open approach to outdated structures and stereotypes, complex and multifaceted female characters are still not a given in the film landscape.

The art director and photographer has previously given musicians a voice through his exhibition Music In A Vacuum, which highlighted artists who lost their stage and means of expression during the COVID-19 lockdowns. More information about the exhibition can be find here.

PopUp Foto-Studio: Unter die Haut

Friday, April 25th | 2.30pm – 5.00pm | Frieda23

Saturday, April 26th | 11.30am – 3.30pm | Frieda23

In addition to the exhibition, a pop-up studio will be available on-site, offering female festival guests the opportunity to have their portraits taken. In a relaxed atmosphere, female filmmakers can share their stories while being photographed. The portraits and accompanying experiences will later be made available online. This is a great opportunity to make one’s experiences visible and become part of this special project.
