HanseFiSH
HanseFiSH is our seaside summer spin-off – four days of cultural programming right on the beach in Warnemünde. In collaboration with the Hanse Sail, the WAL Bar, and the Medienwerkstatt Rostock, the FiSH Film Festival brings film, music, and literature to the Baltic Sea – open air, laid-back, and with an international flair.
A highlight of the program is the HanseFiSH Music Video Award – the Northern European answer to the MTV Video Music Awards. In this competition, music videos from eight countries bordering the Baltic Sea go head-to-head: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. The audience votes live on the beach to decide who takes home the HanseFiSH Award. Germany is part of it, too: the German entry is selected as part of the FiSH Film Festival.
We also present the HanseFiSH International Ocean Film Tour, featuring breathtaking films about the sea, adventure, water sports, and environmental protection; the HanseFiSH Beach Party; and the HanseFiSH Hauslese, a collaboration with the Literaturhaus Rostock that brings stories to the beach – to listen, reflect, and laugh.

Who can submit?
Filmmakers, bands, and musicians from the countries mentioned above are invited to submit their music videos for the HanseFiSH Music Video Award.
The only requirement: the videos must not be older than two years. We especially welcome submissions that portray a modern and fair perspective on social categories such as gender, origin, or age. Discriminatory content has no place in our program.
The best video from each country will secure a spot in the competition. In addition, a wild card is awarded to the winner of the PopFiSH music video competition, which is held across Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and announced during the FiSH Film Festival.
Film, Music & Culture – Right by the Sea
The HanseFiSH as well as the Music Video Award ceremony take place during Hanse Sail – the world’s largest annual gathering of traditional sailing ships. As part of a multi-day program, the selected music videos will be presented on the second weekend of August at the beautiful beach of Warnemünde, at the iconic Wal Bar.
Feet in the sand, a cold drink in hand, and the best international music videos on the big screen!
